Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is one of the anxiety disorders and should not be confused with the lesser known Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder(OCPD) which is also discussed on the main website. Most people have heard of OCD, but few understand the differing levels of development of the condition, ranging from being able to function to a reasonable level and have correspondingly reasonable quality of life, to situations where the compulsions associated with the illness means that the person is virtually housebound.

This forum also welcomes comments from those suffering from the illness or family members living with a loved one with OCD as, with any mental illness, the suffering involved can be enormous but a sense of isolation intensifies the experience.
Best wishes,
Beth
