Re: From the childs point of view- Estrangement

Hi Jennifer, Thanks for sharing your story and it's great that you have put your feelings out in the form of a book -- the ultimate journal! I often ask my clients to journal their thoughts and feelings -- it's so important to get toxic feelings and thoughts out of your head. Your mother sounds as i...

Hi Paula, I'm glad this has put your mind to rest. Thanks for getting back with your thoughts. You keep speaking your truth, and I wish you happy times at last with your Dad. How wonderful that he is in therapy -- he is sorting out his life and this can only be of benefit to you both. Good luck! Bes...

Re: Feedback requested

I hope I can explain my estrangement from my 23 yr old daughter without rambling and making us all sound crazy! My husband and I have managed a blended family for almost 30 years with two cultures, two religions, children and a step child but now that everyone is grown things are not going as plann...

Re: What happens when a narcissist finally wakes up...at age

Hi all, very happy to have found this forum. I'm 53 and my narcissist father is 95. I feel that NPD is a spectrum disorder, with worse cases and better cases. My dad is somewhere on the better side of the spectrum. But he is defintiely on it. Here's the thing. A few months ago, my dad started to re...

Re: TOTALLY UNLOVED by NM... anyone else??

It's always helpful to know that you are not alone in these sorts of circumstances. To know that others share similar experiences and particularly to know that these behaviors actually have a name and are classified as illnesses, not just bad behavior, is also a comfort and a relief for many people....

Re: A mother's heartbreaks..

Since being happily remarried 8 yrs, I have begun to realise that my past life has been involved with Narcissism over 40 years. From 21, as a naive gullible dependent person, I was conned and charmed into marriage with a full blown abusive narcissist. While trying to raise 2 daughters with values o...

Re: TOTALLY UNLOVED by NM... anyone else??

My mother was never diagnosed with NPD. She has been diagnosed with BPD and bipolar disorder. She did knowingly leave me in a household where she knew my father was sexually molesting me, though I didn't know this when: She called me a cold-blooded, lying bitch when I told her that that was the rea...

Re: From the childs point of view- Estrangement

I write this post not as a direct response to others or the articles on websites but because I have decided to estrange myself from my mother. I hope to give some insight as to why children might decide to estrange themselves from a parent, to get some of your views on this behaviour; but ultimatel...

Re: NPD GODMOTHER/AUNT

I am 60 years old, still enabling my 90 year old NPD Aunt. Since I can remember from age 8, this woman has caused our family so much heartache. When I was very young, she would come to our home and cry and cry, complaining she had “no feelings” and all that. Finally, she was diagnosed with a mental...
